4-6 psi on a stock 6. Otherwise, you need to tear the motor apart and replace all the internals with forged internals and dished pistons.

When I spoke to procharger with 175k on my 2k v6 they said the max I could safely run was 10psi. At 8 psi you should be safe. That's what they told me. A friend of mine ran 14 psi on his stocker and with the exception of transmission has had no problems

Procharger told me that their system could safely go up to 10 PSI on our 2006 4.0, but said that the optimal PSI would be between 6 - 8 for performance and decent gas mileage. A friend got one and is running the 6 PSI and really likes it, enjoying the boosted HP and smooth operation without worries. He said it gave him almost 60 more RWHP per the dyno and a big torque boost. It is costly, for my budget, and I wish I could afford one. The new polished set-up looks sweet, too.

A fellow local to me just had an Eaton SC off a Cobra installed on his 3.8, having a custom intake made and pulley work plus a V8's injectors and TB, plus tune. He is getting around a 50 RWHP increase and nice torque numbers. Had to get a new hood, though, as it would not close with this set-up. LOL!

If I can keep miles off of it and all I should be abel to get one in about 2 years, pretty pricy 4,000 dollers. I will just have to work my butt off to pay for it. I could get one now but thet be everything in my acount.

I would just get a turbo, you can get more power out of them, and should be able to find one cheaper than 4k.

I have been looking at turbo kits now for a couple of months. There are a lot of them on ebay for universal application in the $500 - $1,200 range. My friend at Street Machine Performance in Fayetteville, NC, has told me that with a good intercooler and a heat-treatment on the turbo itself should yeild something that would get me good HP and something that will last, without fears of detonation. With the 4.0 and engine compartment room, one header could be reversed for the manifold and the dump could be made with the pipe going down to a custom made y pipe. This might be the set-up we go with if I am able to save up the cash and Tammy does not kill me for the upgrade.

I'd talk to the person that you would have doing the work for you and see what they suggest for your car and get an idea of cost for any custom piping/welding and install, as well as tuning. The tuning alone could cost upwards to $500 - $600 for the dyno tuning to make sure everything is running properly, safely, and matched to your car's specifics. Plus, dyno-tuning alone can find upwards of 10 - 20 more HP at times. Another thing I am told that I should consider before any boost application is to purchase/install a new under-drive pully and that should free from between 10 -20 HP up for use just in itself.

If we make the move that I hope we do, I am going to talk to the folks at www.shifts-n-giggles.com out of Gastonia, NC. They KNOW how to make HP that works and is safe. These folks came up to the cruise-in at Hooters in Hickory last year and I was extremely impressed with their S197 GT.

But, in the end, sadly, I have been told point-blank that the quality and longevity of any boost-making-system I put on my car such as a turbo or super-charger will be equal to the cost involved. You get what you pay for, as I'm told, and that is why I was looking at Pro-charger, as they have kits less than $4k and they come with 3 year warranty and service, everthing you need for install without custom work, and safe/working tunes with the included handheld tuner. But, even then, I am told that I'd need to have it dyno-tuned.

One friend told me to just buy a bottle/kit and run 50 - 100 shot NOS or methane in order to smoke new Camaros with a V6. LOL!!!! WE have a saying in the Sandhills Mustangs Club out of Fayetteville to would b challengers that if you can't out-run our club's V6 Mustangs, just shut up and go home! LOL!!!!

*NOTE TO ALL - I am not a gearhead like I used to be from ages 14 - 17, so that is why I suggest talking to the gearhead that will be doing the work so it is straight from the horse's mouth. So, no claims of expertise at all!!!! LOL!!!!

btw i forgot to mention super six motorsports sells the adaptor intake for the m112 kit, there is a guy using 8.5 psi on the m112 kit hitting 300hp and 330tq, its an impressive kit and very reasonably priced..but procharger has been supercharging v6s for a long time with reliable safe boost...i saw one at nopi nationals a 4.0l v6 making 330hp 375 tq at 10lbs. it was really nice..
