View Full Version : so what should my car run this summer? help me make 13's with my car as is.

i've never run my car at the track, so i'm curious to see what everyone thinks i could run.
mods include TFS1 cam, headers and full exhaust, cai, pro 5.0 shifter and 3.55's out back. the car makes 227whp at 5200 rpm and 295wtq at around 3400rpm. i'll be mainly on 18" street tires, but might be able to borrow my fathers slicks/DR's if i don't pick some up myself.
any tips or opinions are greatly appreciated.

some 4.10's, drag radials, control arms and a sick ass Dez Racing tune. you'll be 13's :marc:

the ex's gt car ran a 14.0 @ 99 with 2.73 gears, cai, full exhaust.. stock heads and cam. you should easily be in the 13's. my black car is carbd, msd ignition, b-303 cam, stock heads, full exhaust, 2.73 gears. it ran a 13.6 @ 102.. all done on street tires

well, gears are staying 3.55's and i'd like to do it on street tires also.
i've already got HPM megabyte upper and lower control arms and strange 10 way adjustable shocks.
lowcop, that's definitely encouraging. let's just hope i don't get there and embarrass myself haha.
i think it's all going to rely driver error haha.

yea, i tell everyone it's only gonna make mid to high 14's. for some reason, all the local kids think it's stupid fast and i don't understand why.

mid to low 14's. 13.9-14.6 is my rough, wild guesstimation. there are always variables like how well its tuned, how healthy it's running, what tires, elevation of the track and also the driver when comparing cars with same power mods.

With what you have done you should be able to make mid-high 13s as long as you hit your shifts and drive it like you stole it. I would definetly get some DRs. Whats the weight of the car?
If mid-high 13s is fast for yall, I wont ever bring my car up there. Cuz if I do yall wont like me much anymore. Ill be runnin 12 on motor and 11s on spray, with a carbed 306 GT40p motor.

mid 13's isn't "fast" for us, it's just my goal for a stock motor full weight car on street tires. my father's 306 should be in the 12's on street tires if he drives it well.
and dean, i'm sure a lot of people would run my car faster then me. i've had my license less then 2 years and i drive my car as a daily driver, not as a race car haha. i'll get my ass out and practice a little more and see what happens. as long as i break into the 13's before summer's over, i'll be happy. i'm not worried about being the fastest out there or anything, just want to have fun.
i may also have an intake and a 100 shot on it before i hit the track, so if so, i'll be hoping for a lot more then low 14's obviously.

PJ get the 100 shot and it"ll deff. put you in the 13's.Even if you dont hit you're shifts perfectly.

yea, i was thinking that if i threw the 100 shot on it and got some sticky tires i could make high 12's or so if i drove well.

dood i ran low 12's on street tires and an untuned suspension for the track. everyone said if i tuned the suspension right, got slicks i would be easy low 11's, and if i hit everything picture perfect, maybe even crack the high 10's.
362rwhp(motor dyno'd in 88 GT with S/D, auto, stock manifolds and h-pipe) but was probally closer to 400rwhp + 150 shot + 2900+lb car with driver = sickness

sounds like it would do low 11s high 10s. z06 runs 10.90 on drag radials with about 465rwhp. and PJ i think you'd have high 12s with the nitrous.

thats what everyone else said to me. thats why i wish i never crashed it.
yea, if he has slicks/drag radials tho. unless he is 100% on point at the track.
