good with like a ssbc disc kit

or you can do a granada brake swap theres stuff all over the web about this conversion and the parts needed

is the stang still a 6cyl or did you convert to v8?

AGREE. The Granada swap is cheap and easy. You can go to the Junk yard and fins a 75-80 Ford Granada or Mercury Monarch and yank the spindles. Bring a pickle fork. Also, the rear end is 5 lug and is a direct bolt in for 65/66 Mustangs and almost the same width. The newer rear is 3/4 wider overall which isn't much. Also, if you can find a 75-80 Lincoln Versailles they all came with 9" rear ends with disc brakes that will bolt in.
I rolled out of the jun yard with 5 lug disc brake spindles and a 9" disc brake rear end with posi for total $250. Calipers can be had lcally for $16 with a $1 core charge. Heck its worth it to just pay the extra $1 even if you don't have a core. Do a search, google and you will find 2BAV8's full write up on the swap.

I didn't like the SSBC disc brake kit i had.

Did one better than the granada. found a Lincoln Versailles (dressed up Granada) with bigger brakes all the way around. also had a 9" with discs and the leafs mount right up. take the spindles and all. just put better ball joints in.

The Versailles front disc brakes have a bigger ball joint taper. So yes, you will have to swap in bigger ball joints. The lower ball joint is the hard one because of the rivets. The Versailles front disc brakes are not bigger than the Granada. They use the same calipers rotors and bearings. The only difference is that the Versailles is less of a direct bolt-on swap than the Granada. Also, God forbid you grind a bearing on the Versailles spindle and try to track down a replacement. CSRP makes new Granada spindles and they are plentiful in the salvage yards. Some of the Granadas and Monarchs did come with a 9" rear and some of those 9" did have disc brakes, the same rear as the Versailles.
