Just had this delivered to the house. Got a super deal on it so I figured what the heck. Needs a lot of work but its in running condition. Cant wait to get back so I can start tearing it apart. She's going to be all go and no show. So far the plan is a FMIC, fuel pump and injectors, bigger turbo, and exhaust. I should be able to get around 400HP out of her. Not to mention a weight of about 2700 once I gut her out.

Good luck with that :) I had about 330hp in mine, before I got rid of it. I never got a chance to put the GT35R on it. Weight is fairly easy, I still had full interior and AC was sitting at just over 3000lbs with my 230lb ass in it.I went the opposite way most people do, instead of bolt-on's, I started with a built shortblock with Eagle H-beam rods, Weisco 9.0:1 pistons, removed the balance shafts, HKS 272 cams, and ported head. Then I did the bolt-ons: tubular header, GM 3" MAF, MAF-Translator, FMIC, Fidanza aluminum flywheel, ACT 2900, 17c hybrid turbo, Apex'i turbo-back exhaust, S-AFC II, Profec-B @ 22psi and we were quite happy

Definitely fun cars, I'll be on the lookout for another one, soon, but I'll do the bolt-on route first.

I'm definately going for the bolt ons first. Although the car does have 175,000 + miles on it. So that probably wont last.

It will last better than you give it credit for. My first one, I boost spiked 28psi, cracked a piston land, drove it for a week that way, pulled the head off, replaced one piston, honed the cylinder with a cordless drill and hone attachment, put on the Mitsubishi multi-layer metal head gasket, and bolted it all back together. Those things are like mini-tanks :P

Things to look out for:

The transfer case is known to leak, you'll need to get a replacement seal for the output, and always check the fluids on it and the rear diff. You don't want it to lock up while driving.

driveshaftshop.com has aftermarket axles and driveshaft components for them, and of course John Sheppard at Shepracing.com for your transission needs :) Forced Performance out of Dallas Texas has cams comparable and some better than the HKS cams, at better prices, along with turbo's and components.

Have fun with it, keep us updated on the progress.

not a dsm fan, but it is pretty easy to get big horsepower out of those cars. the stuff that john sheppard builds is just sick!

Yeah, I never planned on getting a DSm, but I got a good deal on it and I like the AWD.

I just bought a SBR Stage III race head and compa cams for it. Cant wait to get back home and start working on it.
