Exhaust Upgrade

I wanna make the car sound a little better. Little deeper growl to it. Would different mufflers get the job done or is it more than that. How much and how difficult to install?

Try to find someone with Borla Stingers. I have those on my S197 and they sound great. :blkvnm:

just by the muffler deletes. all you'll have to do is unhang your factory muffler and rehang the little section of straight pipe that comes with it. the S197s, V6's and GT's alike, sound pretty amazing with the muffler delete. That, or go with a mid muffler set up if someone offers that for the GT's

i took my muffer off right after i bought the car. finish piping it out the back with some 3'' tips sounds great.

I have the Stingers on mine. With a catted X pipe in front of them it's probably on of the best sounding setups I've heard. I usually don't like loud pipes, but the placement of the mufflers on the S197 gives these cars an awesome sound.

too late - I've already made a decision and money has changed hands. I will have to live with this decision for a very long time. I'm already agonizing over it. When they're on and they sound good I'll breath a deep sigh of relief.

I got 'em on. they sound great - maybe even louder than I'd expected. One question - it smells like something is burning. Is that normal. I was concerned about the clearance on those mid mufflers.

Can't wait to hear your Borla's. Personally, I love my SLP Loud Mouths in conjuntion with the FRPP shorty headers. It gives it a very mean sound, but what do you expect since the SLP's amount to a muffler delete option.

yep that sounds like mine, and I went with straight pipes. cost 250, and they are loud, but hey what the hell.. what I did is I took the mufflers off first, and ran it like that for a few months, and I loved it.. it POUNDED the ground and sounded like a race car, even had cops pull up next to me and roll down the window and compliment me on the sound or just give me the thumbs up.. but every time I hit a bump the pipes would rattle against the bottom of the car and it was driving me nuts, but the power boost.. WOW what a ride... its ok now, but not like before, and the pipes did require a bit of redneck adjustments.. a hammer, and some tie down straps.. and they are still a little off.. but looks great.. good mod!!!

i wouldnt worry about it. gotta remember them mufflers are new and are being broken in.
