Subject: TSgt Christopher Frost (FrostyEOD) Fund
For those that don’t know, one of our own United Stang’s Members, one of our own Airmen, one of our own Service men, one of our own fellow Americans was wounded in Iraq on 18 May 08. Here is the email I got from Chris (Frosty) on what happened that day (I made minor corrections so some our civilian members would understand the military terms):
“Chief,
I deployed to Iraq as the Team Leader for Weapons Intelligence Team One, tasked with performing post-blast investigation, forensic collection and intelligence ****ysis focusing on identifying, targeting and capturing the IED cells (bomb makers and emplacers as well as sources of supply and finance).
On 18 May 2008 We were approximately ten minutes away when we received word that another vehicle on the RCT had been struck by secondary IED, resulting in additional coalition casualties. We continued until we about 150 meters from the second vehicle that had been hit when the vehicle was riding in was hit by a very large buried IED. The blast lifted the vehicle up and it came to rest on its left side. Other elements in the patrol immediately began to provide first aid and called in a MEDEVAC. I was transported for life saving surgery. Eventually I was moved to Balad AB, then on to Landsthul Regional Medical Center, then finally on to Walter Reed Army Medical Center where I am now."
I'll write more later.
Chris Frost (FrostyEod)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Although I don’t know the full extent of his injuries, I do know that he lost his right leg below the knee and they are working on saving his left foot. He is in very good spirits even after talking to him this weekend and today on the phone. I even talked to his Mother as well. Both are great people—first impressions mean a lot to me.
Here is what I would like to do. As of right now, Chris doesn’t know what he needs. It is too early in the game to figure out what he will need in the future. All I know is that anything that the military won’t provide him costs money. I propose this:
US Members: Start a campaign of donations here on the site. I will keep a running tally for United Stangs right here in the forums. Since we won’t be sending any money right now, I am looking for commitments, meaning at the time we decide to send the money (or purchase something he needs), you pledge a certain amount of money. I will list up everyone’s donations right here. I don’t care if it is a $5 dollar donation, every little bit counts.
Other Websites: I know we have a lot of people on this site that own their own websites and have pledged to help out. I would like the owner of the site to run a similar campaign on their website (if you don’t mind)—or send your members this way if they would like to donate. The owner of each site will be the person that I contact with updates and the central collection point of funds on their site. Again, I suggest you only get commitments and list their donations on your board. And if you want, I can run your site’s “total tally” here on this board as well. Some of the sites that I know have already committed (in alphabetical order) and my “go-to” persons are listed along with their site. As you send me your running totals, I will update below on what the total contribution of your site is to date.
See list of sites that have committed to help out at the bottom of this post.
Again, if any of our members, Moderators, Administrators, or Owners of other sites would like to run this campaign on their site, please say-so. Give me your site’s name and I will use you as the “go-to” person. If any of you know people on other mustang or non-mustang websites that could run this same campaign on their site, please contact them and get me their information. I just need the website and a person of contact.
United Stangs Chapters: If any of the Chapters we have want to work something internally within their groups, they are welcomed to as well.
Sponsors: I am going to see if I can work with some of our sponsors and see if they can step up with “gift certificates or cash” to Chris for mustang parts. Again, any website owners, I suggest you do the same with your sponsors if you don’t mind. Again, right now, I am just looking for commitments. I will list their commitments in this thread as well. At the time we decide to send off the donation, I will get with the POC of each website to collect the money.
MySpace: Anyone with MySpace pages, if you wouldn't mind putting this story up, I would really appreciate it.
Banner: I want a banner made up so I can run it across my forums. I will make it available to anyone that wants to run it on their site as well. What I need is someone here to make it for me. Frosty put up some pictures in his gallery we can use.
Homepage Story: Brian is going to post up this campaign on United Stangs Homepage with a link to the story here. Anyone wanting to copy and paste anything in the campaign (or link) to their website are welcomed.
Again, I am just looking for commitments until we find out exactly what Chris needs. I will run a tally of funds donated here. I will also run other website tallies if they want me too. I will just need you to give me your screen name and your donation amount.
Additionally, for any donation over $50 (cash or gift certificates) from a US Sponsor, I will donate 1 month of advertising to their existing contract. This will also be part of my donation as well. You can “up” your donation anytime as well. Just let me or any of the moderators know what you would like to contribute and we will add your name to the list.
PLEASE DO NOT PAY PAL ME ANY MONEY. I will collect the funds later on.
Also, if you would like to send something to Chris (cards, etc), here is his address:

$50 for me Marc (not as my site just me). I am about to dedicate some hours now to getting all of this information set up on my site and any of my sites's external sites like MySpace. Since you don't mind, I will do some copy and paste work like you said.
I definately wish Chris the best of luck and I will do anything in my power to make this better for him and his family. Also, hats off to you Marc. It's obvious you're a military man because your initiative to hop on this just as you said you would is extremely impressive and worth mentioning.
I'll keep you updated on my progress.

It was either this or hookers and beer.... It wasn't really that hard of a decision. I just want to help the man out.
A few years ago I was at an Astros game and a bunch of soldiers from Ft. Hood were there. They had just came back from Iraq. I was drinking beer at a bar across the street after the game talking with 5 of them and I let them drink on my tab until closing time. That was about a 250 dollar bar tab that I gladly paid. They were just glad to be back stateside.

I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone whom has eagerly participated in pledging a donation toward the FrostyEOD fund. I believe it is paramount to understand that these donations not only honor TSgt Chris Frost in his selfless service, dedication to patriotism, and willingness to characterize all that it means to serve as an American in the pursuit of Freedom, but that it also honors and recognizes Chris Frost as the admirable, upstanding and reputable person he is beyond the uniform.
As testament to the type of individual that he continues to be to this day, he volunteered for this most recent deployment to the sandbox with the view point that he is unmarried, without any children and, therefore, the ideal candidate for the mission – despite having just returned from a previous all expense paid trip to the region only months prior.
He is always willing and eager to extend his hand in friendship and quick to offer aid to others in need, regardless of whether he knows them personally or not; my friendship with Chris is defined by this very notion which is precisely why I originally brought his current situation to the forefront of the UnitedStangs membership and audience. While I suspected UnitedStangs would gladly offer support for Chris, I honestly had no expectation that the support would go so far and be so very widespread – for this I again thank you all for the kind words directed at Chris and incredibly generous donations to the FrostyEOD fund!!

James,
My pleasure. I knew this was going to take some planning and a lot of work, but I knew we had some very good people here that could help me out. United Stangs is by far one of the best mustang communities out there. This is not only because I own US, I knew this from Day 1 when I signed on. The family here is exactly that, "a family". We take care of each other.
I am honored to help out Chris Frost. :marcus:

Everyone, I got some news that just makes my blood BOIL! It looks like the Frosty Fund has received so much attention that now some people are trying to scam folks out of money using Frosty's name in vain. They are having people Pay Pal money to fake accounts in his name.
As I have always said, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY AT THIS TIME. Only send money when either myself or your site coordinator gives you a good Pal Pal account. This is why I have only asked for pledges.
If you see this post on any other forums or you are a site coordinator, please make sure your kind personnel are NOT sending money to anyone they do not know. Not one penny will be sent until Chris figures out what he needs.
This is the real deal. I talked to Frosty and his Mother today. I verified he is indeed in Walter Reed. I cross-referenced his phone number with Walter Reed and their customer support desk. He is indeed in the hospital. If you would like to call and chat with him just to give your support, his number is:
Commercial: 202-782-9758
DSN: 312-662-9758
Also, there was a question of was it a violation to collect funds for a hurt soldier and the amount. I have never heard of this but I will verify it. I think the maximum amount per injured soldier is $335 per person and no one has came close to that.
Furthermore, there was some concern about the location of the events. We don't want any possible sensitive information getting out, so to air on caution, if you see or or have posted this campaign on any site, please replace his email in quotes with this:
“Chief,
I deployed to Iraq as the Team Leader for Weapons Intelligence Team One, tasked with performing post-blast investigation, forensic collection and intelligence analysis focusing on identifying, targeting and capturing the IED cells (bomb makers and emplacers as well as sources of supply and finance).
"On 18 May 2008 We were approximately ten minutes away when we received word that another vehicle on the RCT had been struck by secondary IED.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and please don't let these scammers taint this campaign.
Everyone, please feel free to copy and paste this message across all the websites hosting this campaign.
Dave88LX

Oh...I went to go edit my post and saw it already said that...I was like WTF? Then I noticed you'd already edited it. ;)
I find it absolutely disgusting and appalling that someone would take advantage of the situation like this. I put the actions of these individuals right down there at or below the level of a terrorist, to take advantage of the situation of a military member like this. Absolutely disgusts me.
On the bright side, we're up to $425 now at the Corral. ;)
If anybody comes across this type of post at any sites, and you do not see it listed as one of the site's that Marc is tracking, please bring it to is attention. This may potentially help locate some of the fraudulent scams going around...

Marc, the money thing isn't an issue if we give everything to his Mom. I allready checked legal before I out processed. The total ammount of "Gift" is indeed 300ish per person and no more than (I think it was 500 from a buisiness), but if we give the total to his Mom then we bypass it because monetary gifts from family are exempt.

private room, which sucks because I was in room with my buddy I got blown up with, but the provate room is necessary because I picked up C Diff in the hospital, a contagious bacteria that causes diaorrea.
Other then that I had a fantastic day, got lots of needed rest and taloked with AdamGT, a very good guy and extremely empathetic to my plight. Adam, thanks again, call anytime.
Next surgery is skin graft on my left foot next tuesday, then the week after that on wednesday for a different frame to hold my leg together that will let me put weight on it.

Went back to WRAMC to visit Chris today. My wife and our 16 year old son Skip tagged along. Chris and he talked and they hit it off well. During our visit Maj. Gen. Eulberg looked in on Chris and gave him one of his coins. My son was so impressed with Chris and how well he's doing. On the way home I asked what he thought about the visit. I was thinking to myself, man, he got to meet a general how cool is that? He told me "Dad, I've met generals before but I really like Chris, he has such a positive outlook!"
BTW folks, before you go to visit, call Chris to see what he wants to eat. He's on an anything goes diet.

Marc, have fun in the Phillipines. I'll keep you posted on the Corral.net total.
Joey, was nice seeing you again for the first time in 4 years. You look great bro!
To be honest with you, I was a bit apprehensive, maybe nervous about going down to Walter Reed to meet him. I had never been there, been around that situation, and quite frankly didn't really know what to expect. Not to say that I didn't WANT to meet him, but I just didn't know anything about anything. I had seen the guys on here say "Oh, he was in great spirits etc. etc." and I had kind of figured they were just saying that because of the situation he was in, to make it sound better.
But god damn, let me tell you, if Chris ain't the most chipper sonofabitch around these parts, then I'm a virgin! I was totally impressed by what a great mood he was in, no awkwardness at all, never felt weird (I'm saying this because if that's something that's keeping you from visiting, don't let it at all!). Just a great time all-around. The guy couldn't be in a better mood about what's going on. He's got some great stories too.
It was a very rewarding trip, thanks for calling me and letting me know you where heading down, Joey! He's not too far from where I work, so I'll be visiting more often.
I met his mother there too, a very sweet lady she is. She brought him back an Air Force flag, so I helped hang that up on the wall, class the place up a bit. ;)
The "hotties" call was a Classic! "Uh, yes. I'm below my Recommended Daily Allowance for hotties. I need you to send some down right away. I'm in the Air Force, in an Army hospital and this just isn't cutting it. Send hotties!" I'll be damned if 2 lookers walked right in after that.
Oh, and don't let the bastard get you with his little "oh, I lost my leg in Iraq, eat a Taco" or "eat a mint" sob story either. ;)
It was an honor to meet you today Chris! I'll be back in touch with you.

I was glad to see him also, I'm not much of a hospital person and i didn't know what to expect at all when I got there, and i was pleasently surprised to see him as happy as he was. The next time I go down I hope Chris can get out of the hospital for alittle while, we can go to a bar and get a beer, and some hotties. lol!!!!

I ask that if you have posted this on another mustang site that I don't know of, please cut and paste this info on that site so they can make payment.
Frosty has said he will use the money to convert his mustang to a automatic (barring any unforeseen expenses that might come his way between now and then). Either way, the funds will be put to a good use for his needs.
I want to personally thank each and everyone one of you for your donations. I want to thank the other Mustang Websites that contributed. I want to thank the owners of these sites for letting me put this on their site.
God Bless you all for your donations! I am a firm believer in Karma. What goes around comes around!
And lastly, just because we have reached the $5K goal, it doesn't need to stop there. I will try to provide updates here and the other sites. Please continue to donate as you see fit.
Again, Thank you!

I don't have the words to express my true thanks to you for everything you have done for me. This has been an amazing thing you started, and it means so much to me that our friendship was so strong even with me deployed 90 percent of the time I've known you.
Give my best wishes to the family,
Chris

no need in thanking me, brother! all I did was bring your situation to the attention of the US community and Marc took over from there. just know that you have earned every positive thing that comes along your way and I look forward to hearing about your first ride in your Mustang when all is said and done!

Members, let me just give you a few milestones that have happened with this start of this fund:
1) 25+ sites are involved in this fund
2) US Members have donated $1570 to Frosty. I didn't include the members that own their own sites (and members here as well) in US's totals. I gave their site the credit. I included their donations with thier site's totals.
3) Other sites added together have donated $4860
4) Sponsors have donated $200
GRAND TOTAL AS OF TODAY: $6630
This is absolutely amazing. I want to thank the few people that have actually helped me out on other sites with the tracking.
I want to thank the owners of these sites for allowing me to run this campaign on their sites.
A few things about a couple of sites that are interesting:
1) The Corral and SVTP have really stepped up with their donations. Some individuals of their sites that are not even members of US have donated $100 a piece :applause:
2) MilitaryPerformance.com: A small site (although its growing) compared to most of the ones that have donated, donated $500. :applause:
3) VetteTerminator had the single largest donation of $325! :marc: :applause: He pledged this on LSS. He is now a member of US under the same screen name.
Everyone has been awesome. I have one favor to ask. I have been asking everyone that pledged their money on other sites to please send off their donation ASAP.
I want US to lead by example. Hard for me to ask that of other sites and we still haven't sent out all our donations. I ask that if you pledged some money, please get it out as soon as you can get the funds gathered. Sent out means you either hit "send" on Pay Pal or you dropped the check/money order in the mail.
Again, thank you for all that you have done! :marc: :awsome: :applause: :elvie:

Again, Thanks everyone! I will send out reminder PMs to those that haven't sent in their pledges. I know how we all get busy and how it can slip the mind sometimes. Keep the donations coming.
Just because you haven't pledged any money, don't mean you can't step up and donate. The pay pal address and physical address is on page 10 off this thread. Every little bit helps. One less trip to McDonalds, one less six-pack, one less pack of smokes...please help out Frosty. :marc:

I am sending this out via PM to members on other sites as well as this site reminding people of their pledges. Feel free to copy and paste this on other sites you might have gotten contributions on:
Hello Everyone,
If you don't know already, I am Marc and the one running the Frosty Campaign from UnitedStangs.com. I keep track of all the totals.
I am sending out a reminder PM to everyone that has pledged on the different sites. I know that we all get busy sometimes and forget to come to the forums every day or if we do, we miss a thread we posted in. I am hoping that by sending out a PM to you to remind you about your pledge, that we get Frosty's donations to him. He told me he has received $4K of the $6K promised.
Also, I know some of you are probably basing your donations on a future pay day. Understand.
The Pay Pal address is:
shirleyannrb@gmail.com
The address is in Frosty's Mother's name for easy access.
If you want to send funds via personal check, cashier's check, or money order, here is the address:
Checks in his Mother's name: Shirley Burwick
Mail checks or money orders to:
TSgt Christopher Frost
Ward 57 WRAMC
6900 Georgia Ave NW
Washington DC 20307
You are considered "Paid In Full" once you hit "send" on your Pay Pal or you drop the check/money order in the mail.
Please post in the thread and send me a PM when you are paid in full. I want to check off this site as "paid in full"
Again, thank you for your contributions.
Marc
