Hey everyone, as you all know i bought a new Mustang a few weeks ago. The car has Ford Racing dual exhaust on it now and it sucks to say the least. The car is super quiet but when you get on it its almost like a ricer! My last 06 Mustang I had Magnaflow dual exhaust and loved it. I got tons of compliments on the exhaust system. This time I am wanting to know what else is out there and know if any of you have any ideas for dual exhaust for my car. I want something loud and throaty! I do know I dont like Flowmaster so dont come back with that lol Anybody know anything about Pypes of Gibson V6 duals??? Thanks everyone!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new stang

Damn, you should have checked to see if you could get your exhaust off the other stang.

Moving to 2005+ Mustang Tech Section for more visibility

Li'lbabyv6 has got the JBA true duals with H-pipe on her car right now and it sounds pretty good. It's not very loud though but it does have a deeper tone than many catbacks i've heard on the V6s. I've got an exhaust clip or two somewhere on Photobucket but i'll have to check that in the morning some time and get it posted up for you

No I couldnt get the exhaust off Mike. Everything under the car was demolished as well from sliding down the culvert.

Yeah Im interested on the JBA's.

Thanks!

and Mike, i don't know if you saw my thread about the V6 exhaust earlier, but do you know if the factory pipe will fit onto a V6 on the 05+'s? i wonder if it will because if the factory will then the aftermarkets will also, but i think we're about to add the MAC longtubes and matching prochamber onto Christi's (Li'lbabyv6) mustang

If you talking about the factory gt pipe fitting the V6 I would not know.

You would think they should fit. its the same chassis, the only thing I see that would be different is the diameter.

i've got a couple vids from the drag strip that'll give you some fly-by's...pardon the times she's still learning but she's doing great so far :mick:

and Mike, have you swapped out your factory H for an aftermarket? if so do you still have the factory H...and if you still do do you think i could buy it from you to find out?

Edit: here's the 2 vids i could upload from the strip friday night:

bassani?

Mysticalsnake
05-12-2008, 08:35 PM
if he wants true duals he'd have to buy the bassani axle-backs for a GT and then have someone make the piping for the true duals. bassani only sells the single axle back muffler for the V6, it makes sense seeing as how it a straight bolt on from the GT to V6 on the passenger side muffler anyways

Thanks again everyone...Im taking notes as yall reply so I can find the best. Im not sure how the exhaust is set up on my car but it has to be true duals. I may try to crawl under it tomorrow and see how they have it set up now. My back is still killing me from the wreck so i havent been able to look under the front of the car, plus it sits like 2 inchs from the ground on the sides lol Keep the ideas rolling in...

honestly, i think your best bet would be to get a full cat-back for a GT mount it up at a shop, and tell them to make your factory H-pipe bolt onto the cat-back. done deal. You could then also be able to swap out cat-backs if you so choose. you would have to stay catted however, as 99.9% of all exhaust shops won't touch the exhaust if you make it cat-less for liability reasons

well it wouldnt be customized if it wasnt custom?

Mysticalsnake

depends on view of "customized" vehicle i guess...most people interchange customized and personalized.

Ok, I crawled on the ground and looked to see how my exhaust is set up. Its a true dual set up, guessing its the Ford Racing exhaust. It has a pipe coming out of each header, a pipe out of each cat, and then has almost what I would call a H pipe that continues the dual exhaust to the back of the car where each pipe meets its own muffler. So its true dual...

ford racing has the X-pipe for the V6's...post up some sound clips of the car if you can and i'll see if i can decipher what mufflers they are atleast...that is, if you don't know already

Ok Ill try to post a sound clip tomorrow if my camera will allow. The exhaust at a warm idle has a putt putt sound out of each pipe at seperate times. Almost like a Jeep exhaust if youre familiar with Jeeps. When I rev the motor it crackles and pops, pretty ricy at times lol Ill see what I can do for sound clips tomorrow!

OK, I cant get the sound clips to upload. My camera records at too high of a quality i guess. But I did find out its GT mufflers on my car for sure. I contacted Magnaflow today to ask about dual cat-backs for a v6. I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

well, if your car is already set up with an H-pipe, just buy whatever axleback mufflers you want and go that route. It would cost you half as much or less

I just put the Pypes catted X true-dual set up on my car with Street Pros.

I don't have any clips of it now, but I REALLY like the way it sounds. :-)

one of the things i've found that actually sounds pretty good (given i haven't heard any reline or high-rev sounds) is the pypes muffler delete for the GT's on the V6 dual exhaust set up. At idle i honestly stared at the faux gas cap on the back to make sure it wasn't a GT. Very good sound to it

Ok, sorry its been so long but I have been spending money on other crap for this car since the exhaust wasnt that big of a deal. Now that im at a stand still on the little things for the car im getting back into exhaust mode. I looked at Pypes muffler delete, going to do some researching and maybe play around on youtube for sound clips. I did get one of my friends at Ford to cross the part numbers on my exhaust and its Ford Racing like I was originally thinking. Thanks for the ideas! Its gonna be a while still, finding a exhaust system is almost harder than finding a car lol

OK, I got on youtube and searched the 4.0 Mustangs without their mufflers. They sound good but then again its also being played on a computer. Im hopefully going to get out of my office one day early this week and go to a muffler shop and have them drop my mufflers to see what it sounds like. Ill let yall know if it was good or bad!

I'm a fan of Magnaflow. Not too quiet, not too loud.
