didn't like the white knob, got tired of the t-handle, so I decided to get a black knob along with the bullitt shifter boot and bezel, no grommet reqiured for boot.

but how is the shifting? I want the white, but I dont know if I will like the longer through..

once you drive a car with a short throw shifter you'll want one, it's about a 40% reduction in throw over the stock shifter, I love my Hurst, it's has a notchy feel to it (which I like) and shifts great (haven't missed a shift yet),
there are alot of short throw shifters for the S197's, Steeda Tri-ax, Pro 5.0, and MGW to name a few, but I really like the retro look of the Hurst.
