Just wondering what is the most sought out 4-Eyed Mustang and with what options? Are any of them considered collector items at this time in point?
Just trying to educate myself on these vehicles. :mick:

My favorite four eyes would have to be the 1979 Pace Car, 1982 GT, 1979-1981 Cobras, 1984 GT350 and the 1985-1986GT's.
The 79 Pace Car and the 80-81 Cobras had the same front clip and lower air dam as the 82GT. The 79 Cobras had the 79-82 LX front clip. Before I got my 85, I never knew the early generation Cobra's even existed.
82GT was what started the GT's and had the slogan, "The Boss is Back."
The 1985GT was the last year of the carbureted Mustangs and it came with the roller high output motor, which came with the factory 5 speed and had the headers instead of the manifolds. The only downside to the 85's was that they did have the 7.5" rearends and did not have the true dual exhaust.
The 1986GT was the first year of the EFI, true dual exhaust with the hpipe, and a 8.8" rearend.
I hope this info is helpful for everyone that isn't too familiar with the 4 eyes. I hope that I wasn't rambling on lol.

I know the SSP body style (EX- Patrol Cars) are the most sought after. But alot of people look for the 79 pace cars as well. I guess you could consider me lucky. I had an 85 GT (the last carb'd V-8) and now I have the first FI V-8 stang.

Yeah, they are getting harder and harder to find. I saw a 82T-top coupe for sale last week though.

85-86 LX 5.0 Coupes are my favorite - although I am a little biased as I own a pretty wicked little 85 Notch 5 speed with a laundry list of mods. Prices on these can reach as high as 10,000+ for a super clean all original example with low mileage and the right color combination. NADA has high book on those in the $9k range.
Here she is when I bought her back in November 1999 - other than an off road H-pipe and a K&N filter she was 100% stock, very clean and straight with 50,500 miles. Picked it up for $5k and drove it home.

Here she is today with 72,000 miles and many mods and changes later

Matt (STROKD)'s car. One of the best 4-eyes out there. Last time I read he was installing a TT setup that was going to put him over 1,000rwhp.

My 86 LX 5.0 was the best combo and I wish they had it today.... No power anything, no ac, 5 speed. With me and a ull tank of gas it weighed only 3089lbs.

Does anyone really like the 79 Pace Cars?
I always wanted one of those. I like them as much as I like the 82GT.

I like 'em but I like the 1980-1981 Cobras a little better. Both years they have the pace car hood, rear spoiler, and front air dam and it's a Cobra!
I have an '80 Cobra I will get to working on as soon as my 85 Coupe is driving.

How about this...
http://www.fquick.com/images/vehicles/full/73354409.jpg (http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewgallery.php?action=viewimg&id=54409)
I used to have the rodlites on it and a 275/50/15 Nitto Drag Radial out back. Then I swapped the rear out for a built up 8.8, eaton posi and Moser 31 splines and a 5-lug. I sold the rdolites and put on a set of 15x8 prostars with a 28x11.5 ET Streets out back. By did it look nasty. I didn't have those long either and sold them. They actually fit under the car - barely. Then i went to the bullitts and just recently put them on my 88 GT. I have a set of the new Billet Specialties Street Lite wheesl coming for the 85 Notch. They should be here in a week or so and then I'm mounting them up. 15x3.5" up front and 15x8 out back with an ET Street. They will be coming out with a 15x9 by summer and then I'll go with those and mount some ET streets on those. I'm hoping the ET Streets will hook with the 4.56 gears out back!!!
I should be putting this in when my wheels show up...

Awesome! Glad to hear that Dean.
The 80-81 Cobras are really cool cars too. You don't see them very often around here. There is a rotted 79 Pace Car ten minutes from my house. The floors are gone and rear quarters are gone. It's a real shame.

Personally, I prefer the 85-86 GT, mostly for the nose, it looks aggressive. The 86 had the poorly designed heads, and flat top pistons to go along with the then new EFI setup. The 86 is why they went with the truck heads (E7TE) in 87.
I've owned three 1985 5.0L 5spd GT's, one in Medium Charcoal Metallic, one in Jalepeno Red, and one was a light blue I don't know the paint code or proper name :). I don't really care for any of the other 4-eyed stangs out there, if I got one, I'd probably go out of my way to make it look like an 85, unless it was a Pace Car or Cobra. Capri's, on the other hand, I'll take those any way I can get them :) I've had a 79 5.0L C4, and now own an 83 RS 5.0L 5spd.
