Absolutely no 93 Cobra convertables made.

There were 4993 Cobras and 107 Cobra R's produced in 1993 for a total of 5100.

1FACP42D... is how the VIN should read. No Cobra came with cruise control. Only 5 options were available - PWR drivers seat, leather, CD, Rear window defrost, and Sunroof. Engine block heater, CA emissions, High Altitude principle use, and million mile odometer were also available, but don't show up on the door tag, buck tag, or VIN.

• Unique 17x7.5 turbine style wheels (unique offset - 93 Cobra is 3/4" wider per side with unique front rotors with taller hats)
• Opened up grill area with running horse insert
• Unique rear bumper, side skirts and grill opening
• Rear disc brakes
• Snake emblems on fenders should be non-directional (DS faces to the back, passenger side faces to the front, unique to 93 Cobras)
• LX style tailpipes
• SVO style tail lights
• Unique rear spoiler
• GT40 Iron heads (3 "bars" should be visible on front of head, "GT" cast into head under valve cover

• Available in 3 colors only: Teal metallic, Vibrant Red (kinda orange red), Black

• 65mm throttle body
• Cobra (cast GT40) upper and lower intake

• Smaller front sway bar - 28.5mm as compared to the larger 33mm unit used on the GT, the rear bar measured 21mm
• 4 cylinder rear springs and regular 5.0 front springs. The front springs were 425/530 lbs./in progressive rate, while the rear springs had a linear rating of 160 lb./in versus a progressive 200/300 lb./in. rate used on the GT.
• Unique struts and shocks (Tokico was the OEM supplier)

Yea, this is really good information because so many people are making fake cobras now and everything. Now I can point out everything that isn't so cobra about their pony.

Good Info. I wish I knew that these things were going to skyrocket in value back when they came out...I would of bought 3 of them. There is one with 16 miles on the clock for sale on ebay right now...the bids are $33K plus and the reserve is still not met.

the one thing i dont like about the 93 Cobra...... the tail lights. ewwwww. they look like the ones of the 85-86. sorry hugo, thats the one thing i dont like about them 2 years either.

you can find them somewhat cheap. normally they have higher milage on them. but for the most part they are becoming very scarse. not to many left in prestine condition. thats why the prices are so high for emaculate ones. id still pay almost any price for one. but id end up changing alota things tho so i guess i'll wait till im old and grey and it can just sit in my 25 car garage

A couple more things to add:

- The '93 Cobras were all produced 5-speed manual
- The '93 Cobra R also excluded air conditioning
- Of the 107 Cobra R's, I believe 7 of the 107 had the "California Emissions System" option. (I've had a hard time verifying this, but I believe I read it somewhere before). As stated in the original post, this was an option that didn't show up in the VIN or door tag.

Understandably so, original condition & low mileage are the big drivers of sales price today. You can find a "decent" 93 Cobra for ~$10k (plus/minus ~$3k), with considerable mileage & road use. Price goes up from there.

I've had 2 -- picked one up in '99 for $12,500 (had been stolen/stripped/rebuilt), and just recently picked up another for $11,500 (original + supercharger, high mileage, daily driven). But IMO, they still draw lots of attention, and I personally love the Cobra spoiler & taillights. :)

Great info! :mick: only seen one 93 Cobra R at mustang week, and a few Cobras

i know there is at least three around here in batesburg-leesville that are in the same family - one brother owns the red, the other brother owns the black, and the dad owns the teal... my mom and i got a ride in the red one...:omg: never thought how awesome they were lol, it was a blast, had a good straight away down the road too :D (and the brothers own Palmetto Pony, with a junkyard of full of mustangs)

and there was a guy a few houses down that used to have a red one a long time ago and it was mint and in perfect show room condition. it got stolen and parted out i think and found it all messed up... and the guy has never gotten another great car like that again, scared of it happening again i think. he's got a ricey eclipse now

Yep, I understand... the first one I got in '99 was stolen after about a year. (It had an alarm, kill switch & club, & they still took it -- think they loaded it on a truck/trailer). It was found 3 days later, totally stripped to the bone. I also didn't want to get another, for the same reason (fear of losing it again). Yes, I even went to the "other" side & drove an RX7 for a few years, but I'm back..! :) (...after all, that's what Lo Jack is for, right..??)
