I haven't done anything to my mustang yet, but I'm considering doing something with the grille. The billet grille (upper and lower) is all over the place as far as price goes. I've seen it from 100 dollars to 275. Surely it's not the same grille at all these sights. What makes one different than the other? I don't want to pay more than I have to, but getting a quality product is worth paying for.

Most of these grilles go on over the factory honeycomb grille. Wouldn't that restrict airflow? Is it anything to be concerned about?

I also see these chips (on E-bay) that advertise anywhere from 14 to 40 hp increases. Is that BS? Seems if an 8 dollar chip did everything they're claimed to do, wouldn't Ford put 'em in at the factory?

I also like that eleanor front grille - I'm considering it as well. Which would you guys prefer - Eleanor or Billet grille?

no billet grill please

chips/tuners can add a good chunk of power. ive seen some Stangs get over 50rwhp from a tuner.

What was it running before hand... 30 below stock? roflmao... unless you have serious mods to a mustang.. tuning it wont give you anymore than min of 0.. max of 25 extra horses..

As far as those chips go... Thats detonation waiting to happen... it tricks the computer into thinking the temperature of the car is colder than it is.. which makes it dump more fuel into the engine... Opt. running engines it wont hurt.. will hurt it down the road.. it puts more stress on the car.. that and it kills your gas milage. Ive tried it on 2 of my cars.. the first it did help... alot.. the sensor was bad so i kinda bypassed it.. Secondly.. its just a little fuse... inside a box. Its nothing fansy.. they just put a shell around it and sell it for 30 bucks more than the next guy LOL. Dont do it.

Mach one grill delete is the way to go as for grills. I got mine brand new off the net for like $65.00 and bulldog stang helped with the install. As for the cheap priced chips, don't get them. If you want a chip just go along with a tuner like diablo or sct.

As far as grilles go, I like some of the billet grilles. They get expensive when they actually replace the grille, like the billet one that CDC offers. All of the others are overlays, and as far as I know no one has had cooling problems with one. I'm thinking of going with black billet upper and lower grilles in mine clean up the look and save the hassle of cleaning that honeycomb.

I also like the Eleanor grilles, it just depends on what you like and what look you're trying to achieve.

I would stay far away from those "chips" on Ebay. Invest in a quality tuner and you won't be disappointed. You can expect 17rwhp and 30rwtq approx with a tuner like SCT or Diablo on a stock 05-up Stang. If you were to add a cold air intake with the tuner then you'll see approx 25-30rwhp. I have a JLT CAI and SCT Tuner on mine and it's a blast, especially when you whip out the 93 octane tune.

Hope this helps ya! :mick:

I think I'm going to forego any grille work at this time. The car looks great as is. I do need to do something to make it MY mustangs. I think I'm just gonna get a new pony with the Vista Blue and some billet interior stuff - climate controls headlight nob etc..

I bought and installed the black billet overlay upper and lower grilles from
http://www.foryar.com/fy/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=785
it was $119.00 shipped to my door and the quality was top notch, solid billet
bars not c or e channel, powder coated on all sides, and I do not have any cooling issues, and imo it looks alot better then the egg crate grille.

As an alternative to a grill swap, I went for this mod.
Here's a quick pic after install, as well as a pic of someone who thinks she's getting my Stang in 4 years.
