tensioners

The alternator belt tensioner on my 91 2.3 is ticking, rather loudly now, and doesn't hold correct tension all the time.
First, is there a way to adjust it, or does it just need replacing?
Second, are the tensioners the same for the AC belt and alternator?
It's a 91 8 plug motor.....I found a tensioner for a good price, but it says it's an AC belt tensioner, and the guy didn't know if it was the same one as the alternator belt or not....

ive never worked on a 4 banger, but i cant see why it cant be adjusted. and theres only 1 tensionor i belive.

if its noisey.... it normally means replace it. plus you should do it anyways if you can get one cheap.

there's two.....i was just thinking on the way back from a call this evening, that I may be able to just swap them around, since it's winter and I don't need the ac anyway....

well you dont need the a/c thats for sure.
