for those who have already added a CAI ... have you had any issues with the height the filter sits? mine doesn't want to stay down in the 'channel' cut out for it on the heat shield....
I can see where the top edge of the filter is rubbing on the underside of my hood
and I have a disgusting squeal coming from under the hood ... and I'm 99% sure its from the filter edge rubbing the hood ...
I think I'm gonna have to get some black Zip Ties and strategically place them to hold it down a bit yet not look obvious
anybody else have to hold theirs down like that ?!?!?!?!?!

I have JLT CAI and my filter sits in the channel cutout on the heat shield. Make sure that on the forward side of shield that it sits flush on the component with all the lines going into it. Sorry Derek I dont know what that part is. As far as the filter rubbing on the hood, you need to get the filter sitting in the channel first. Then you can make adjustments to keep filter from rubbing on hood. This seems to be a problem for those with aftermarket hoods.

You can tweak the elbow to point down more. Mine did that at first. Did you get it in GO?

What I did with mine to get it to fit right was put it all in with the clamps loose and then adjusted it to fit took a while to get it to sit right and like mike05gt said get the filter in first then adjust the rest

I was thinking .. the sound could be from the bottom of the plastic heat shield rubbing on that little black box thing with the lines going to it (is that the one you are talking about Mike?) heh - I think we talked about that at a car show once - I don't even know what it is! ...
yeppers - got it in grabber orange
whether the sound is coming from the filter hitting the hood or what I mentioned above .... thanks for the help.... I WILL have to adjust like you guys have mentioned because it IS touching the hood even if thats not whats making the sound ... how do I know ?? - I have a mark in the underside of the hood paint to prove it

No issues with mine rubbing anywhere with my aftermarket Cal Dream Hood.
Had it over 2 years and no issues.
The filter sits in place and I do not have a heat shield to hold it there.
You can play with the length of the tube in the elbow a bit to make it move around as needed where the elbow meets the plastic tube. Also make sure the elbow is installed with the correct end coming off the TB. There is a short side and a long side to these and this will cause problems fitting.
Hope this helps!

I messed with the clamps and the length in which everything overlaps .. I think it sits better now..
but to the news...
remember the sickly sound I heard .....
so I had the hood up and had it idling and was listening - thought it was the belts - which is weird because its freaking new and the fact that this sound came directly AFTER installing the CAI seemed like it would be a very weird coincidence .. nonetheless I bought some belt conditioner and gave it a few squirts - still the squealing continued ... I was swearing up a storm
getting to the point now ... :chuckle:
I called a neighbor over and asked him what the HELL he thought it was .. first thing he said "belts" ... told him what I installed and that I already addressed the belts.. so thats not it ... he then said .. sounds like a vacuum problem .. like air maybe being pinched - because it made a crazy sound when I would shut the car off .... I then realized this HAS to be something caused by what I installed ... so FINALLY I'll get to the meat of this story ..
I said the only 'air' line would be the one going from the CAI to the passenger side valve cover ... I followed the line and found that it was being pinched like a turd because I have midwest Auto Gear fuel line covers and that big rubber tube wasn't sitting right and the air was being cut off ... sooooo....
I took the hose that came with the factory air box ... cut off one of the ends (with the green tabs) ... cut the JLT CAI hose a few inches .. put the larger JLT rubber hose over the end of the harder factory tubing and reconnected it to the valve with the factory end ... the problem went away .. everything fits fine now under the fuel rail cover.
So I think everything is good now :woot:

Glad you got your problem fixed:mick: I have the fuel rail covers also, never had that problem. Next time I see your stang, I want to take a look under the hood.

there is that little 'cutout' on the bottom side of that passenger side fuel rail cover .... it may have not stayed in there and moved itself over OR I didn't even put it there to begin with ... all I know is that everything seems to be working now
and the difference is QUITE noticable with the CAI and tune :bolt:
