I ordered a set of Shorty Headers for my vert...do I try to install myself? Who has done this. I have more tools than Tim Taylor and know how to use them, just don't know whats involved...anyone got any suggestions?

thats a big project there, your going to need a weekend to do it just incase you come into any trouble

If it was a 5.0 it would be a snap but that 4.6 is stuffed in there cause its so wide! They were soooo easy on the 289 in my 65!

May take you up on it, have to see. Should have done it this week, Jan kept getting called to work, I woulda had PLENTY of time. She is gone now!

If you've got access to a craft shop it's not too bad, I will be doing mine shortly, going with shorties as well. Depends on how motivated you are, but it's at best a 4-6 hour job, and notice I said at best:) The lift REALLY Helps.
It's not a hard job, but it's a timely job if that makes sense, then you have enough knowledge to knock it out:) Oh, what gaskets are you useing, BBK's gaskets are Ehhhh.
Don't want to be doing it again because you skimped there you know?

Chad talked to Paul at ProCustom Autoworks, the guy who painted my 65. He is a Mustang freak and he has done several, including his own and has agreed to put them on for a very small fee :D He is taking it out there Wednesday night, should be done by the time I get home this weekend :mick:

Chad talked to Paul at ProCustom Autoworks, the guy who painted my 65. He is a Mustang freak and he has done several, including his own and has agreed to put them on for a very small fee :D He is taking it out there Wednesday night, should be done by the time I get home this weekend :mick:

Isnt that part of the fun of owning a Stang? But hey youll get to enjoy them every time you drive your Stang. :snicker: And youll probably drive with the stereo turned down for a few days, trust me :blkvnm:

Steps after Header Install
1) Crank Car
2) Call friends to come listen
3) Lower Car from Stands
4) Crank Car again call more friends
5) Get in car and rev
6) Check to see if neighbors are watching
7) Get in car again and rev
8) Slowly drive off
9) Turn Stereo Off because you forgot
10) Opps roll windows down
11) Get on it and make sure no LE officer's are around
12) Call more friends using cell
13) Get on it again
14) Cruise leaving friends at home
15) Opps remember about friends
16) Pick up friends
17) Enjoy!!!
