View Full Version : New paint/color scheme I am thinking about
MustangVilla

I bought a CF heat extractor hood and a CF trunk lid with Duck Tail spoiler (all one piece). I am not going to paint them (already clear coated). So, that will be a black hood and a black trunk on a Vista Blue Mustang GT. Has that old Mach 1 look (in my mind) but I wonder if I should have the roof painted black as well?
Comments or suggestions?:mick:

I was thinking that way myself and I also thought about the vents on the back window, but I think it would look sort of....engineered by an....Aggie?:bolt:

No on the roof
Believe it or not, old dude here knows what he's talking about. He does great work and he never disappoints :mick:
With that being said I agree with him on the "no on the roof" did I say that. :bolt:
Good luck with your decision!!
what looks good as far as Color, or color combos are opinions. I simply stated mine. We have all seen crazy stuff that was time consuming and cost a fortune, but looked , well, terrible. To each their own. Much worse out there than what you are thinking aboit tho.
Might look soso if there is a break between the roof and the quarters like on the 05+
and sherry gave me a compliment? :omg: LOL

you distracted me :oldman: :smack:
on his car I personally don't think it would look good, it may be overkill. If I was you I would just stick with what you got, but it's you car and your the one that has to feel good about what it looks like.:blkvnm:

I am not one who likes flashy or crappy. I am even thinking about painting the CF Vista Blue and not having any contrast. When I get them fitted and installed, I will take a long gander at it and decide. Sort of hate to paint something that don't need it though. I was never in the Navy. ;-)

I personally would paint to match, but that is just me .... Now if your car was Black, I would leave it ... I think that with some of the chrome on the car with the Vista Blue and then black hood and trunk lid, it will clash ... just my :twocents:

The only chrome on my car is the "GT" badges on the front fender (and they aren't long for this world.) Wheels are Black Steeda Ultra-lights. I am installing new lights all the way around with black assemblies. Halos in the heads, chrome orange in the turns, and chrome red in the side markers, but you can't actually see the chrome bulbs...and LEDs in the rear.

I would leave JUST the hood black with everything you have listed above, but that's me. Glad you bought a stang, much better choice :mick:

I hate to agree with ding bat, but yeah, paint the deck lid to match and leave the roof alone. a black hood would look ok. Painting the roof would cost just as much as the deck

Ding Bats have good ideas...look at Martha Stewart...okay, the stock thing wasn't a good idea, but she is a decorating fool!

That's a vote..your painting the deck and leaving the rest. DONE!!!

It isn't going to be just like that, but the scheme will be similar. Basically black from front bumper through back bumper. Trying to figure how to blend it in smoothly. I have a painter friend who is going to help with that.

smooth would be ending at the edge of panels. There is a gap between the roof and the "uniside" on those so painting the roof black would be easy
