Recessed Hood Pins on Carbon Fiber Hood

I am putting a black carbon fiber hood on my 07. It comes with a latch, but I have heard that I should put hood pins on it. Is this really necessary?

If so, does anyone in the DFW install the recessed pin setup? Or should I have said, "Does anyone one in the DFW do a good job installing the recessed pin setup?"

I have a aftermarket hood on my 05. The hood fluters on the sides a little at 70 mph. Some people have installed hood pins for peace of mind. If you decide to go with hood pins, you should be abel to do it yourself.

Well, since I am a fumble fingers, I would rather someone else cut a hole in my hood. That way I can blame someone! LOL The recessed ones require a big hole to be cut out. If it were just a drill bit job, I would do it.

Yea, if you do that kind of thing! LOL That is a pretty precise hole to cut out...I have done coconut cookers before, but there is some give there!

with the right tools it would be easy. looks like it has some room for error

I wouldn't get those. I would just get regular hood pins. But if your car is a DD, keep the latch, the pins are just for a back up basically.

I could go with the tape on ones, but I think that is waaaaaaay false security!:pointlaff

I guess I could paint the regular ones black and ditch the funky cable.:D

Haha, I would just go with the regular traditional style. They look cool from my personal view!
