I am currently deployed and my wife had to bring my 96 Cobra to the dealer because we keep having the ABS light come on after only about 10-20 minutes of driving. Shutting the car off turns the light off but it keeps coming back. The dealer says there is no signal coming from the left rear wheel and that I need a new module. I hope that I just need that one sensor and that is what they mean by a module. Has anyone bought one of these before and if yes what did it cost and where did you get it? Was it a dealer only item? Is it a pain the butt to reaplace or is it pretty straight forward?

I just found this at Schucks online and wondered if this would fix the problem:

I dont intend to have her replace it; it can wait till I get back from the sandbox. However, I was a bit confused because the dealer called it an "ABS module" and all of the parts stores that I find online call it an " ABS Wheel Speed Sensor." I just want to make sure that I am ordering the correct part. The dealer wants $120 for the part and the one that I found at Schucks is $79 so I just want to make sure that I have the right part (that we are talking about the same part)

have your wife found out exactly what oart needs to be replaced. dealerships will always cost more. once you know exactly... then it'll be easier.

I would try cleaning it off first. It is comon for them to build up alot of dirt and not read correctly. Just use some brake cleaner and spray the sensor and the ring see if that helps before having to buy a new one.

That is what I was thinking too. Is this sensor directly behind the wheel? This is my first stang with antilocks.
