Remote Door Lock Keyring

My only remote keyring broke and I ordered the new one off Ebay. The instructions for programming say to turn the ignition to run or ACC, then momentarily jump the pis in the programming connector located in the left rear quarter panel area.

I took a quick look behind the corner of the trunk trim panel, didn't see anything that looked like that. Anyone seen this or know what they are talking about?

I have honestly never heard of any type of connector.. I know with after market alarms, they would hit the buttons in a certain sequence to program new remotes.. I would assume it's the same for factory stuff. I would contact the dealer in the am just to make sure.

yea, normally you have a sequence of buttons to push.

I have programmed the newer buttons when I worked at Ford, it was easy. Never done one of these before and I hate screwing with electrical stuff...

look under your rug where you spare is that is where my connector is and I have a 96'

Its factory, I don't fool with alarms, nobody pays any attention to them, they are just a public nuissance cause they go off all the time for no reason. This is the factory Remote Door Lock Keychain thing. I only got one, it was a dealer car with 8400 miles on it when we got it in 98 and it died a couple months ago. I am spoiled, hate to use a key to unlock my doors, and since I use it to lock my car I never lock my keys in it either :lol:

I am not sure if this will work on a 97 but it does on a lot of stangs, put the key in the ign and turn it on and off about 8 times, the doors should lock and unlock by themselves, then with in 5 or 6 sec push the lock button on the remote. if the lock button works you are done.

He is right.. you dont have to jump anything.. Turn it on to ACC and back off 8 times.. Leaving it on ACC, Your Locks will lock and unlock by themselves... after words.. within 5 seconds.. Click the Lock Button. When your done turn the car off within 5 seconds of the lock command and it programs the internal computer to listen for that frequency

as far as pat keys go.. if you only have 1.. you have to take it to the dealer.. if you have 2 its easy to make a 3rd one.. to activate it it takes 2 original key's

take the keys, do a tag job on the car, take a remote and boom! done. you have yourself a car. :D

I read a post on how a guy took a small magnet and fooled the car with one key into thinking it was two diff keys

or a girlfriend thats a locksmith :chuckle: mine has programmed spare keys for both my stangs :banghead:

locksmiths and ford are the only ones that can make a pat without 2 keys

I found the connector in the left quarterpanel area after I took the trunk liner out, it looks like a regular electrical connector with nothing plugged into it. Turn the key to run, jump the 2 wires together and the doors lock and then you push a button on the keyfob. Turn the key off and it works :mick:

Yep! And along with that I took a huge subwoofer box out and regained my trunk!
