--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok guys here is the scoop.

I am a silent partner/owner in a paint shop but i am NOT a painter or work there but basically i get everything at cost ( will use the best everything) and i need help/ suggestions on what would look good for my coupe.

What i have done is a new interior, hand built engine and many other things so the last is the paint job.

I am having it painted in all black with my 2300K caliper in Edelbrock red to match my ignition wires when hood is open.

I will have the Cobra grill installed and blended into the bumper so it looks like one piece.

The tail lights will be the 84-85 with the yellow lens portion and i will have the portion that says Mustang front and back painted with either a different shade of black or in a very dark gray/silver to bring it out.

What am i missing or what suggestions do you have?

I am one of those sleeper car kind of guys so the flames and stripes are out of the question.

Any pics would be appreciated !!

Black? blah. Just paint what ever is supposed to be painted, black. No big deal.

Any particular type of clear base coat, prior experiences, what have you seen that looked good?

Was the Mustang word on the bumpers painted a different shade of black or different color, did the black have flakes, etc.

Any pictures would help of course.

Black is best all black, if you add flakes or anything it takes on other colors, if the flake is gold then it looks brown, reds make it look maroon. Sound like you have the best plan already, cant wait to see it :mick:

Dupont makes good clears. If its cut and polished any good clears will look about the same. The lettering on my car is candy yellow, only because I have candy yellow flames

I was actually told i could paint it a very dark purple and it would look like a deep black.

If I started over, I would go through house of color and paint the car a color that isnt stock. Mustangs look best..if they are different than others yet tasteful. - Shane

I agree. Never painted my cars an OEM color. Well, not a ford oem color anyway. My 72 had a chevy orange engine. But a plain black stang would be good for a sleeper

You could also try another years factory color, that's what I'm doing with my coupe, but it's far from a sleeper.
