Noticed a few others posting up about this, but didn't wanna hi-jack, so here I am. Just before arriving at the Show & Shine, I got on it a little to pass someone up, and all I got was a "nope .. not today" from my GT. Well that and a beep, followed by the message reading Engine in FailSafe Mode. Almost felt like it shut down, the loss of power was so dramatic .. so we get there, I shut down and restart, and the message goes away. Anyway, JCSGT hooks his Diablo up to it to see what codes it's giving me (thanks, Jeff), I jot those down, he clears 'em, and we continue with our day. On the way home, everything seemed perfectly fine, 'til again, I go to pass someone up, and as soon as I step on it a little, I get "denied" ... :pullhair: So we go a few miles, before we're able to pull into a gas station, I shut 'er down and restart, and it clears the message so we get back on the road, I set my cruise on 75, and we finally make it back. Now just gotta wait on the dealership to be open again, which'll probably be Tuesday, and maybe if I get on it a little, it'll come back on so it's doing whatever it does when I take it in. Wish me luck!

Laura, Jeff cleared your codes on your first mishap. Your codes are still stored from your second mishap. Dealership will be able to download your fault codes and fix the problem

Ahh, okay, then I guess it doesn't need to act up when I am able to take it in. In the meantime, he's gonna have a look at it, as he thinks he knows what the problem is.

Sorry to hear that Laura! Rachel's car did it once but I could not get any codes off hers to figure out what the problem was. Hopefully they get your figured out and fix it for ya. :mick:

Hope they figure it out and fix it for you.
I had mine do this when the TB motor was acting up. Mine wouldn't even run,
had to have a truck pick me up.
So many things it could be.

Yeah, one of the codes Jeff pulled had something to do with the TB actually, so we shall see ...

What performance mods do you have done currently to your Mustang? Have you changed your t/b or air intake system? We have seen Mustang's go into "limp mode" usually when customer's have changed out their t/b's!

I have 4.10s, CAI, underdrive pulleys, off road H-pipe, XCal II tuner all of which have been on since before June 2006, when I got the car, and before the question arises, the previous owner had wanted the BBK TB but it wasn't out at the time, so he never bothered with it.

Well I don't know about your local Ford dealer but I would suggest if taking it in under warranty to put the factory h-pipe and factory air box back on. The dealer will automatically assume an aftermarket part is the cause of the problem.

Is your SCT custom tuned or is a Strategy Flasher that you have changed settings on?

We have also seen the factory TPS going bad and causing the "limp mode" issue in customer's cars.

Laura,
Did you get it in today?

Nope. Didn't even realize today was a "back in business" day since we were off. And now, it'll have to be after work sometime this week or on the weekend cuz with the hours we work, I don't wanna be stuck out there somewhere if I take it with the intentions of dropping it off when I get off work.

***update***
Well, after taking taking it in to Jordan Ford, and explaining what had happened, they run a diagnostic on it, and then call me saying they weren't getting any codes. Initially they had been cleared, but then the second time the problem happened, it was just turned off and back on, not cleared with the tuner, so I was thinking they'd still be able to pull the codes. Well after they told me that, I told them I had the codes that had come up .. turns out there is a TSB for that, so they said they wouldn't rule out other issues but the TSB was pointing towards the problem being with my CAI. Go figure. So they were going to ut my stock air box back on it, and run the diagnostic again, but when I got home to get the stock parts, I talked to Jeff (thanks again, JCSGT) who advised me to just tell them I was picking up my car instead, and he'd change my CAI out and set my tuner to mods minus CAI, rather than letting them swap it back to stock, jussssst in case they didn't return my tune back to stock after the swap (then I guess we'd have more problems), sooooo after waiting up there two hours cuz they had my car ready to do the swap and rerun the diagnostic, and I guess since they weren't doing that afterall, they weren't too rushed. Anyway, the service advisor finally comes to me with an invoice showing nearly 75 dollars for the diagnostic (cuz it wasn't gonna fall under warranty since they thought it was my aftermarket part), but she says she's gonna take that off there cuz it wasn't technically determined it was an aftermarket-caused problem, so for me to just go ahead and put it back to stock and if the problem still happened, to take it back cuz that'd mean it wasn't my CAI afterall. Whew! FREE diagnostic test! LoL So anyway that's where the problem now sits. Car's running fine, as I didn't try to run it too hard on the way home, so we'll see what happens after Jeff's done with it. Hopefully it still acts up with the stock air box back on so they can fix it under warranty, otherwise I'm not sure where we go from there. LoL Will update when I know more ...

*if there are typos, it's cuz I'm in a hurry on my Treo

Rachel's car started doing it again on Sunday and Monday. and still no codes were coming up!! So I took the CAI off and notice some dirt on the MAS. Cleaned it off and it's been running great ever since. Check your MAS seen if there is any dirt on it. :mick:

Was hers doing it when she'd try to accelerate all of a sudden too like mine?

And thanks, ummm I'm sure Jeff will see this and check that out for me.

Mine did the same thing last month. took it to the dealer. And yea, the fail safe always came on during throttle up. You can notice a huge loss of power, kind of like it's downshifting.Anyway the dealer fixed it here's the codes they gave me back. Found DTC P2106 and P2135. Performed TBS 05-14-4 Repairs, Replaced TPS sensor and update PCM. Retest ok at this time...........Hope this helps you.:blkvnm:
