Completely different engines.

351Ms and 400Ms are the same engine family,
they were basically car and truck low perf engines.
They use a 429/460 bolt pattern for trans mounting.


351Ws are your Windsor family.(260,289,302).
Basically a tall deck 302.

the 351m and 400m had their place and were not necessarily low performance engines. They were torque monsters. great truck engines.

They were a stop gap for Ford and they were low power/high torque engines
for trucks and cars.Not very efficent but they did the job they were asked to.

No,the parts wont interchange between Ms and Ws.

No, they don't interchange. I believe hot rod magazine did an article sometime this year where they did a buildup of an old 351m and it made pretty good power, problem is there isn't the aftermarket like the windsor family.

The 351M and the 351C were pretty similar. I have a friend that has a 351M in his '69 Mach and we parked them side by side one night and visually they look the same as eachother. And have you seen a big aftermarket for the Cleveland? If you do lemme know! :rotfl:
