Code for EGR Valve

I ran codes on my car today, the 91. It had one code, 332, which from what I've found means the EGR valve does not open.
I'm not real inclined to care about this, but I wonder if it is affecting my gas mileage due to some adjustment because of this code? If so, what would make the EGR valve not open, and what would be the solution?

Well that's gonna suck....guess I'll have to fix it then....with the prices lately, I need all the gas mileage I can get....

i wouldn't block it off ona street car. It does affect driveability and fuel mileage.

i got mine blocked off and mine is a daily driver

I thought about blocking it off, but as long as it's got the 4 banger in it, I'm looking for max gas mileage.....it doesn't really seem to effect the driveability, but I'm wondering what it's doing to my mileage? Anyone know for certain? The way I see it, if it's costing me a couple miles per gallon, it's worth fixing, given the cost of gas and the amount of time I'm likely to be driving it with the 4.....
91, will the V8 one interchange? They look different in the pics I've seen.....
