Alternator question

A day or two ago, I noticed the alternator gauge in the 91 fluctuating. It would dip low and the light would come on, then go back up. It seems to be getting more frequent. This morning it showed discharge for a couple of miles, then suddenly went back to normal on the gauge and the light went out.
It's a 2.3 AOD....
Is this the alternator starting to die, or something else?

Mostlikly it's your alternator going bad. Best thing to do is take it off and have it bench tested at you local parts store. :mick:

take it ti autozone they can test it for you

Had it tested the other day at the parts store in Chandler....It showed good at the time, but was floating up and down, same thing I was seeing on the gauge. I just didn't want to pony up for a new one and then find out it isn't the problem....
