i want to put my lowering springs on really bad :woot: but i dont want to pay the outrageous price of someone else putting them on :irked:. Is this something i could do by myself in a weekend. i know i will need a spring depresser but does any autoparts shop let you rent them. like pay a deposit and use them and then bring them back. but any advice could help. :mick:

you can do it yourself in a weekend maybe even a day. vatozone might have the tools you need to rent out.

Thanks man. Now do you know if they rent the air compressor type or do they only give you the manual ones. They probably only give you the manual ones. cheap punks lol.

it's so easy Hugo, I mean a monkey can do it..

1. Jack the front of the car up as high as you can get it. block the rear wheels to keep car from rolling.

2. Put jackstands under front subframe of car, as high as you can extend them.

3. lower car on jackstands.

4 take jack place under front control arm where the ball joint is, jack up slightly to easy the tension.

5. Remove nut on to of strut (the center nut on the caster camber plates).

6. stand off to the side and lower jack SLOWLY, take large prybar and put into spring to help keep from flying out, once all the tension is off the spring, pry it out, but be carefull as it still can pop..

7. install new lowering spring, jack up control arm slightly until there is little pressure on the spring, take large pry bar and pry the spring into place, it will POP when in place.

8. put sturt back into it's location, and jack up until the strut comes throught the strut tower, install nuts, and tighten.

9. Remove Jack. DONE! repeat for pass side.

Rear.

1. jack up the rear of the car as high as you can get it,using the rear "pumpkin" housing as a jacking point, block front wheels to keep from rolling.

2. place jackstands under rear sub frame of car, extend, and lower jack slowly until car is resting on the jackstands.

3. unbolt the rear shocks from the REAR HOUSING NOT THE CAR IT SELF.

4. lower rear rest of way.

5. Remove spring, maybe have to push down on the rear on the side you are working on to get the old spring out.

6. Install new spring, and repeat for pass side.

7. jack the rear up and reinstall shocks to houseing, jack up further and remove jack stands, lower car, and you're done.

If Shudahadav8 didn't get called away we would've have mine done in under 45 minutes easy (granted, with a lift and air gun, and not much of a we, but I did help a LITTLE bit)!

I was just amazed at the dramatic improvement a 1.25" drop made, huge improvement. One day I may actually even get pics of my car!

I wanna thank speadfreak for the detailed instructions on how to do this mod. :blkvnm: we used it step by step. It also helped a lot to chain the spring down to the control arm so it wouldnt fly any where when we pryed it out. the first spring we took off took us a while cause it wasnt coming out. but we also didnt want to pry on it to hard because of it popping out. you should have seen us. it was hilarious but after we got it out and seen there was nothing to fear we blasted on to the others and finished really quick. :mick:
