I guess age has caught up to my 96 gt. Now she doesnt seem to want to idle down while in park (3000 rpms idling) or run lower rpms when cruising (let foot off gas at 55 or so and usually sits at 1500 goin down the road, now 2000). I am having a mechanic check it out but it has stumped him and several of his sources and he is a respectable mechanic. Replaced the idle air control still same problem also hooked up a smoke machine to check for vacuum leaks and no leaks. Can unhook throttle positon sensor MAF and Idle air seperate and it will idle down. The only mod i have done that may cause a problem is the venom module (which is unhooked now) which when turned on stays inactive until 1/4 throttle then sends alternate readings from TPS and MAF adjusting air and fuel. The car isnt throwing any codes..... so other then replacing the tps or flashing computer im out of ideas.... nyone else had similar problem or other suggestions?

If you have a K&N filter First thing I would do is clean the maf element with some brake cleaner. Solves a lot of strange problems.

I was gonna post the same thing. Always check the easy things first.

I say clean the MAF to see if that works .... If not, it sounds like the TPS ...

Best way is to take to someone that has a flow chart system. it's better to ativate each one of the sensors while it's running and see how it reacts to pin point the problem.

Flow chart system? That something you plug into the ECU reads system? Dont know of anyone in the area who has a system capable of that. The MAF cleaned and seems to be ok TPS is being put on now. shall see.
