I got a replacement for my possessed cd-6 unit in the 02 GT (thanks AviatorStang)....
How does the old one come out? It appears that the bezel is just clipped around it, and then a couple of screws, but I can't find anything in the way of directions, and I don't want to break the trim pieces getting it out.
Anyone have some directions or pics/diagrams?

The bezel is just clipped in. If you start from the bottom and jjust pull on the bezel, it should just pop out. From there you can just work your way up the bezel. The radio is held by two screws at the bottom (well, mine was at least). Once you take those out, the radio should slide right out. Hopefully that makes some sense and helps out a little.
Btw, i always took my shifter boot off too just to help aid in the ease of removing the bezel.

Sweet! THanks! I thought it was something along those lines. We'll finally be able to use that Mach system again without it randomly changing stations.... :gt4her: Hopefully I'll get it put in tomorrow....

It won't fit!!
The connectors on the back are different! D*&n Ford!! The two units are identical, except the plugs are different!
The 02 unit is on the left, the 04 unit on the right

So anyone wanna trade a working 04 cd-6 unit for a good 02 one?

Have you tried to check and see if the colors of the wires have matched up? Maybe you can try to splice.

I thought about that, but I don't have any plugs for the 04 unit....Not your fault, tho....who could have guessed they would be different?
I don't know of any in the yards around here that I could get the plugs from, either....

You can actually look on the net for an 04 wire harness of whatever. I haven't seen what one looks like but you can find one like on ebay cheap. Before you order it though be sure that it is the right one. Just a suggestion :mick:
