that is safe mode.
a CEL does not mean it's in safe mode...
safe mode retards timing, richens the mix, and lowers the rev and speed limiters
my truck's CEL stays on most of the time due to it needing a retune bcuz of my non-stock MAF
again, it will run fine, u'll just have an annoying light on...

Kinda figure cause when I had my 89, I elimated the egr and ran it like that for a long time. I had all type of mods with no tune with cel light on. I dunno modulars are different

really? any mod motor mustang that I've been around that had the factory computer with a check engine light on, ran a little on the fat side.. come to think of it, any OBDII car for that matter. I could be wrong though......

any computer controlled vehicle will run a lil on the fat side from the factory
deleting cats makes it more noticable...

I agree ... It will make it run a little fat/rich ... and you can tell it or smell it in the exhaust ... if you have a diable tuner, you can bump your timing down a hair, maybe 1-2 degrees and it should be fine .. also, if you have tuner, you can turn the CEL off as well ...

Yeah, I ran mine without o2s hooked up until I got the extensions onboard. Never had power issues, and didn't go into "safe mode." Check engine light was on, but ran JUST FINE...
