ok guys like the title says i want to get the 97 running a lot better... i want to keep it naturally aspirated though...
its a 97 gt vert with an automatic..
my mods so far are:
granetelli motorsports upper intake plenum
ford racing 70mm throttle body
mac cold air intake
steeda underdrive pulleys
full bullitt suspension kit (springs, shocks, struts, and sway bars)
ford racing strut tower brace
and for exhaust as of right now is factory h-pipe with 4 cats cut on it, will be ordering a bbk off-road x-pipe in a couple of weeks...
ok guys let me hear your opinions

well.. what's your budget?
just throwing it out there, I'd say contact FOXLAKE (http://www.foxlakeracing.com/) or VT engines. (modular fords should have a link)
But! my opinion, go with a stroker motor... or a high compression 4.6 with ported heads.. it you want to stay natural.. you can also just do cams. but that's about it.

my best time in the 03 was a 13.9 before i did the headers on it... i want it to run with the 03, the stroker idea is a no... dont have that kind of money... i want to pretty much have stock motor, minus heads intake and possibly cams.... where could i get a stall converter and what stall should i get???

ok, along with waht was said, the heads/cams would be a good way to go... PA performance I believe it's called should have them (they are an auto tranny builder)

yup, gears, torque converter, and a tune (tune will do wonders for that sluggish auto shifting). you can also get some tranny work done and upgrade some gears. UCAs and LCAs wouldn't hurt - to grab the ground better.

I agree with the tune! It never hurts to get one! I think that everything that has been stated above is a good way to start! :D

Go to my mod list and see what I have done ... also check out Larry03GT ... we seem to be following the same path ...
I have a N/A car running 12's .....
My future mods are a good set of VT Stage 2 Cams (or similar), Ported and Polished Heads with an angled valve job, and finishing my suspension .... looking for low 12's high 11's on a stock bottom end ... :)

I agree with cams/gears/tune combo. Should straighten you out pretty good, bro. DEFINITELY get some rubber on the back to grab the road(burn off your stockers!!! :gt4her: ); no point in making power you can't get to the ground. Minor upgrades: a wider tire. Major upgrades: a LOT wider tire. Upper/lower control arms will help get it planted to the rubber/with weight transfer/with wheel hop prevention. That's my suggestion.

+1 on this setup, you'll get a beefier seat of the pants feel and better traction without toooo much $$$ and you dont even have to open the hood :mick:
