Dont need an IRS to go roadracing.
With a little work the solid axle
will work fine.
I would say in the engine is in good shape,
you are somewhere between 250 and 280 hp
and 325 or so torque.

i wasn't sure about the suspension, but that would make it much cheaper to do. as for the motor it's got alot of miles on it, i think it's around 180k, but it seems to make pretty good power. the last time i went to the track i pulled off a 9.4@78mph (2.73 gears and all season tires), so i think the motor is doing good. i'm gonna be doing a 331 when i get the money saved up for the rotating assembly. i'll probably keep the solid axle since i already have upgraded control arms. i need to work on stopping power for this thing. thanks for the suggestion. :blkvnm:

The Baer Claws (12 inch frt and rear)work very good and I ran them on my A/S
car. They will need 16 or 17 inch wheels depending on the bell of the wheel.Alot of the
guys put Cobras on the front and run 94 up stock rear discs with upgraded pads.

thanks BlKvNm. racer99 i've had a few different thoughts about the brakes for this thing. i found this stuff http://mpsautosalvage.com/products/list.cfm?TypeID=39 not sure about PBR though. i'm not as good with brakes as i am other aspects of the vehicle.

the sn-95 brake upgrade is a good place to start and upgrade the calipers to the 99+ dual psiton pbr calipers.. but don't get it from MPS, you can get it alot cheaper through locals junk yards and you pull it yards..

put it this way, the best way to go 5-lug for a fox,

94-95 front spindle and hub assembly,
94-95 rear housing with brakes.

done. except the master cyl and booster,, I'm not sure which one to use as some people use different ones..

if you want to upgrade to better clamps, you can keep it on the cheap side and get a set of pbr calipers off of a 99+ mustang, the next step would be the cobra upgrade and the ultimate would be the baer ste up.. if I still have the links at home, I'll post them up for you.. it tells you everything you need to convert to 5-lug and it's on the cheap.

Nice you got started there.

You can google a hp calculator, based off of wieght, mph and e.t. it will give you an estimated hp level. You may be guessing a little high with 250/280 rear wheel numbers. I run an 8.8@86 in the 1/8 with 258/285 rear wheel numbers and 3850 lbs with me in it, and that's with a rael bad short time at 2.01. I'd recommend some dyno time just to check a/f ratio, see what numbers your making and try to tune it a little.

As for the brakes, Joey is right the best way to go is to do the sn-95 upgrade, you can find it bone cheap if you search a little. MPS is priced way too high, I only use them on things that I can't find anywhere(that means exhausted every connection I have)

thanks for the info on mps guys. i'll have to wait until i get back to the states to go yard hopping though. man i hate being away from the family and the car. oh well, i gotta go where they send me. my 60' times are alot worse than that, 2.4, 2.3 is right about where i'm standing. i suck at launching. we all gotta start somewhere though. thanks again for the info, i'll have to look into master cylinder/booster combos.

i'm on yahoo messenger every now and then, so just keep an eye on it. the best times to catch me are on the weekends though.
