Will there be any difference in horsepower between the installation of flowmaster mufflers versus the slp wide open resonators given my application? Someone mentioned that with SC cars the back pressure created with the flowmasters would add a few if there're in place at the time the Mustang is tuned as opposed to the resonators...any ideas??

i believe you would make more with the straight thru (slp) mufflers than with a chambered muffler your force induction needs to have a free flowing exhaust. but someone please chime in and spank me if i'm wrong! :mick:

that was my first thought but then another added his input. The wide open, as I currently have it, is nice but a little high pitched at higher rpms. I would think the flowmasters would maintain the same volume but at a lower note - more 1970's muscle car-like...Eitherway, I need to make a decision before I have the 'Stang tuned on wednesday...

I would stay with the SLP due to the blower .. I have recently swapped out my flows for the magnaflows for this reason when I do s/c later on ...

I agree...the SLP's give you free-flowing, while the Flows make for restriction. Sound is only a minor factor if you add a s/c, bro. To get better efficiency out of the s/c I'd DEFINITELY stay with free-flowing exhaust. Another option is to look at a free flowing muffler with the sound you like, but longer in length. This will help quiet it down a bit if it's too loud for your taste, but keep free-flowing characteristics, from my understanding. This is from a muffler guy I worked with on a truck I previously owned, as I wanted to add a turbo or s/c to it at the time I had it. I went with a Magnaflow for its flow characteristics. Now, keep in mind great flow may rob torque with less backpressure, but with a s/c you don't have to worry about that anyway.

My only problem with the set up is that the pitch in sound at higher rpm's is to high - the volume is damn sexy...I just want a lower note! Either way, the flows wouldn't fit on the set up i have now anyways and I ended up selling them to some one - I will look into other options when the finances allow me to do so - I appreciate your guidance!!

i'd put a set of magnaflows on it...it'll be deeper and not so tinny sounding up high..i would think....and flow like crazy!!!

does murillo have any business cards by any chance?? I only ask because I have already 'recruited' a couple of guys and it would be more convenient to hand those out...

:mick: I'll have to agree...I had the Magnas one time and they don't have the high-pitch stuff in them; I was running them on an F-150 4x4, but it had the SOHC 2V 4.6L, too.
boost cars don't need the backpressure n/a cars do
straight thru all the way
and another vote for magnaflows, flow great, sound great, aren't nearly as loud as others unless u want it to be

Actually, the turbo guys NEED the backpressure to spool, but the super guys don't. I put the free-flowing on mine, but the X makes some of the exhaust scavenging work for the car, and I actually don't have bottom-end issues at all; it's actually more responsive. Now, keep in mind I'm still running the 2.5" exhaust, too, so a 3" setup would likely hurt your backpressure, though you would get some good gain in the upper RPM range. This is my experience, anyway, so take it with a grain of salt if ya want...
As far as the exhaust being loud, shorter muffler=louder muffler. No muffler=race car sound(f'ing LOUD). I go with NO muffler, heh. Very loud. Now, the SLP kit WITHOUT the Powerflo mufflers, and WITHOUT the resonator, is the loud setup that sounds good. Powerflo's are loud, but tame enough for someone that doesn't want it TOO loud. The resonators make it sound like crap, though, as I'm told by some of the guys in the local club.

Hey, I posted a short clip (will get a better one soon...) on my post today here: Pics/Vids of Evil 'Stang (http://www.unitedstangs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17008) It has a comparison between the stock and SLP, though it doesn't do it justice. Like I previously stated, I WILL be getting a better one later; I'll post it on that thread.
