That's what I was thinking. I would rather spend the extra $5K, and find one totally stock w/ under 11K miles. That's what I did :mick: .

Looks pretty nice and looks like a great deal but i really think it was beat pretty bad on the drag strip etc. Thats a descent amount of miles for a 04 cobra, im sure you could find a stock one that wasnt raced with alot less miles for a little bit more. IMO its worth the extra 3k for a stock cobra that you know wasnt beat to bad. Buying a car that was raced and mod'ed pretty good isnt a real good idea unless u really really check it out. God knows what could be going wrong with it

that car looks like it would have been put through alot. and it doesnt even have some of the parts that make the cobra's cobras..... plus its not really have fast for being that modded and that focused on dragging.

Someone was posting on another board about this car. They went to see it and the pictures are OPTIMUM photos the car itself has been beat to hell.
(MustangForums????) don't remember for sure where I was reading about it.

I'm sorry to bring back a dead thread and make this my first post, but I just came over here to check things out since I haven't been on here since 10-23-06 according to the info at the top of my screen. Honestly I'm getting the itch for another Terminator. Though the original link posted is dead, I don't even need to see it to know that it was a link to my old car that I had for sale. Seeing some of the comments has made me furious, and I can't just let it go, whether the people that replied are even going to see this or care and whether or not they remember the car or why they said what they did. I will defend my cars to the death whether I still own them or not and some of these comments are insulting to me; it's like insulting my children. I will start from the top.
probably beat to hell
It was not beat to hell. I am a UTI Automotive graduate and graduated at the top of my class with a 3.9 GPA and 4 Student Of The Course awards. I got a B for 1 course and had an emergency that I had to go out of town for which made me miss enough time that I got timed out and had to retake a course, which is the reason it's not a 4.0. I am not an idiot, nor careless, nor unappreciative and I know how to take care of a car and I know what's both good and bad for a car. I have been working on them since I could hold a wrench and have taken cars down to a bare shell and restored them, built motors, trannies, rear ends, etc. I do not claim to know everything as I am aware that there is still SO MUCH more to learn in this constantly changing and evolving hobby and plenty people out there know more than me.

It had TWO scratches on it. One on the back bumper where my ex-girlfriend had backed it into a pole one of the few times I let her drive it, because she did not have a car and needed to go do something while I was in school and I wouldn't be able to take her. The mark it left was tiny and I had to point it out for people to notice. If the original link posted was working, you would see the pic I attempted to take of it. It was so small it was hard to photograph. The other was right above the drivers door handle and it was seriously minuscule, but I did not do it and have no idea how it got there. Probably my dumb, careless ex-girlfriend. The mirror randomly broke one day. Don't ask me how, just remember that quality is job #1 at Ford. There is a TSB out for the mirror from Ford. I looked it up on AllData at school which lists pretty much every TSB and recall you can think of from any manufacturer on any car, and much more, and printed it out to show the dealership to get fixed, but I never got around to taking it to a dealer since it was my only car. If the original thread ever comes back (not sure if it will when SVTP gets their things sorted out or not), but I think I posted pics of the front bumper in it. If you're including that along with allll of the scratches (sarcasm), then don't. That is not my fault either. Ford quality strikes again there. I was washing the car one day (which I did at least once a week to my 'beat to hell' car) with a normal hose and nozzle with it on the wide setting (in an attempt to NOT harm the paint) and the paint literally just flew off. Once again, there is a TSB out from Ford about the paint quality on these cars. Do research and you'll see I'm not the only one. If you're including the curbed front wheel (which, again, I think I pointed out in the pics) and if you're again including that in the scratches, well chalk that one up to the dumb, careless ex-girlfriend also. She did that one day and immediately came and told me about it crying, because jokingly a few months earlier I told her if she ever curbed my wheels I was dumping her. No, that's not why she's now my ex, though it would be funny if it were.

It was not beat at the drag strip. I saved EVERY time slip that I ever got in that car. I just counted them, there are 31 slips. 26 of those were at an 1/8th mile drag strip. I did not ever have slicks on the car or launch it high. I always launched it softly at 2500 on Nitto DRs, which were the stickiest tires ever on that car while I owned it. The car had 32k miles on it when I sold it. I bought it new and it was my daily driver for over two years. I lived in TN and went to school in TX. I drove back and forth between the two at least 15 times to visit friends and family. What do you expect? Again, it wasn't beat. I would do a quick 2nd/3rd gear run sometimes on the street to keep my sanity and remind myself why I bought a supercharged 390hp Mustang in the first place and I raced TWO cars on the street the whole time I owned it; a C5 vette and a Carrera 4S Porsche. Yes, both saw how good a CO Cobra looks from behind. I NEVER took it on a high speed run. The fastest that car saw while I had it was about 120mph. Reason for that is I am well aware of the ridiculous piston to wall clearance on those cars and the cooling issues. 120mph was about the top of 4th/end of the track. It did not see WOT or any heavy load in 5th or 6th while I owned it and I never hot lapped the car or did multiple WOT runs back to back and I never powershifted it once. If you consider that excessive for a car like this, you're in the wrong hobby. And there was nothing 'going wrong' with it. I recently talked to the current owner and the car is treating him just fine.

I don't think I have to say it hasn't been beat again. And boo hoo it doesn't have some parts that make it a Cobra. Not everyone is happy with what the factory gave them. And I suppose your Bullitt is showroom floor stock then, huh? Afterall, the exhaust is Bullitt specific, and the suspension, and the intake. Wow, that rules out most mods that people do. The only thing that makes it a Cobra as far as I'm concerned is the VIN tag. No matter what you do to it, it'll always be a Cobra. Do you hear guys that find a Hemi Cuda in a shed with a 318 in it or the Dana 60 has been swapped for a 8 3/4 saying it's not a real Hemi Cuda anymore? No. They look at the VIN tag. Every Mustang starts out the same anyways. Not that fast, huh... It ran 11.8 @ 120 when it had a K&N FIPK, Borla Stinger catback, MGW shifter, Billetflow 2.93 upper and idlers, a tune from James at RWTD, and 275 Nitto DRs, launching soft and like I said, not powershifting. It was nearly full weight (had the rear seat delete) and IRS when it ran that time. I later added the solid axle and aftermarket front seats because I had so much fun with the little bit of racing that I did do, that I decided I wanted to go faster and get more serious into drag racing. So I did that, and then I had to go to TX for school about a month later. On the way to TX while moving I got a nail in my DR, so I got some FR500s and Kuhmo MXs. I never had a chance to get any sticky tires again so I thought it would be pointless to go to the track again. I went to school in August of '05, sold the car in January this year, and I never made it back to the track in that time period.

Rod
Rod, I see you only have 4 posts, so you might not ever read this, but YOU'RE A LIAR! Plain and simple. The whole time I had the car for sale, I did not have one person, NOT ONE PERSON come look at the car. It was bought sight unseen by LA Motorcars in Dallas and picked up by a shipping company.
Some of you need to do more research. Maybe ask some questions sometime or read the ad a little closer so you don't make false statements and assumptions.
FWIW, the car in this thread:
http://www.unitedstangs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18697
is my old CO Cobra. I know the link is dead, but I don't need to see it to know it's mine. Has a solid axle. Like I said, I sold it to someone in Texas, and a guy in Cali owns it now. When I talked to the current owner he said he tried to sell it for a bit, but changed his mind, hence, that ad. He showed me pics of it and it had the TX plate on it. Funny how all the ridiculous comments aren't flying around in that thread about the same car and how $28k seems fair with more miles on it.
yup, you can't judge a book by its cover
I saved this one for last because he's right. Some of you did judge the book by the cover, and put your foot in your mouth by doing so.
Good day gentlemen.
Wow...I didn't say anything bad about the car because I never saw it in person. I think if the new owner is happy with the car that is all that matters. Heck, have him come here and register the car. I would like to see pictures of it.
