I need a very good reputable mechanic to track down a series of issues I have had with my 95..

I would prefer someone that deals with Stangs and knows them inside out.. Im tired of dealers and other people that dont know anything except what the service manual tells them is wrong...

My car has been very sick since I bought it.. knocking and pinging and missing when its hot outside (even with a cold engine)

and being an absolute slug with no 5.0 OOMPH at all... 4 bangers smoke my car pulling into traffic.. my 0-60 times are like 15-20 seconds... id hate to even know what the car is doing at the 1/4s prolly 30 secs... the car is making 0 power... it cannot even spin its tires on wet pavement.. it feels more like a Yugo than a Stang.

Im at my witts end... on top of that now my top is leaking near the rear window and my drivers side power window is not working... as well as a bunch of other little freaking bugs...

Slaters Mustang (281-446-9491)on the NE side of Houston is very good with the 5.0 motors. On the oppiside of town, but he is the only one who I will let work on my Cobra besides me. Every shop will have supporters & haters, so this is my opinion. There are other Mustang shops that are good, Houston performance, PSI (where the dyno day was), I'm sure others will chime in.
Have you checked the codes? They can store them with out the check engine light staying on. There are things that can be done, like clean the MAF meter, change O2 sensors (if they are old). Last time it was tuned up? Could be clogged cats?
Have you thought about doing it yourself? It gets expensive to have shops do the work. I've done the power window problem, not that hard.
If the rear window is seperating from the top, mine did this also. I went to a local uplhstry shop & they use some black window glue that has worked great for over 2 years so far.

I dont have a garage or tools or the knowhow on this 95... I figured this car would be very similar to my 87-93 5.0s but I was wrong this is a whole nother beast...
I cant even identify half the crap thats on top of this motor... what was so wrong with the simple setup the true 5.0s had?

i have no clue how to read codes on this car its been popping the codes since I got it..

it doesnt even sound like a Ford 5.0 at all.. there is something really wrong with this car..

I wish i had bought a 5.0 fox body instead.. or kept saving for a 2005/2006

you can try taking the car to auto zone and see if they will read the codes and let ya know what they are. can't remember if the can read that generation computer or not.

To point you in the right direction, you need to know what codes it is throwing, for starters. I don't think Autozone can read codes on these cars, unless you find one who knows what they are doing!! Too bad you are on the other side of Houston, I have a code reader & like I said, do my own work on my car. The code reader is less than $30 from Walmart or Oriellys.

Yah i understand the codes are important.. the dealer i took it to said the timeing was right 3 times i took it back and told me there was nothing wrong with the car... and then wanted 200 bucks to run it on the computer... i said bite me..

I find this to be laughable as the car has no torque and no HP... i put the pedal on the floor and the car literally does nothing...

So thats why i asked about stang peeps that know what is going on...

Ive had 6 5.0s now... and none have felt like this or sounded like this car...
Im really beginning to think its an internal motor issue... head problem or compression or soemthing... i mean i've driven sick 5.0s before but this car has less power literally than 4 cyl hondas or mazdas..

I was lookign tot ake the car in this weekend somewhere and dotn care where the location is as long as they are reasonable and know what they re talking about...

if you want to help me I will drive the POS to you and even let you drive it so you can feel and hear what I mean about it..
We have a Ford Expedition with the 302 in it and it at least sounds and runs like a stang should.. hell that 5000lb truck with lift and big tires will spin them all the way down the street... makes me sick that my car is so ill.

the car hasnt been touched mechanically except for the dealer i bought it from.. hasnt had a tune or or anything... I look at the clearance when I open this things hood and there is no way with my limited tools and workplace I can get to many of the plugs... I can not even imagine trying to do a header job at home on this car...

anyway Im ready to get the initial issues worked out so I can at least do gears and exhaust in the car.. the AOD is drivign me nuts also..

First thing you need to do is a full tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotors & fuel filter. Then need to clean the maf meter (free). Get the basics out of the way, then go from there.
