View Full Version : Why don't Fox tachs work?

I have two Foxes, and neither tach works. Mine are LX's, but I have seen others, both LX and GT, and the tach seems to be a frequent failure item.
Does anyone know of a fix for it, or what causes them to fail? I'd like to get them working, especially since one of mine doesn't have timing marks, and I could at least time it with the tach if it was working.....
Both ours work fine. Maybe check the fuses? And a tach is < than a timing light for setting the timing.

Have already checked the fuses. When I replaced the blown fuse, it immediately blew again.....And yes, a tach is cheaper, when you can find one....I've looked all over Tyler, and I guess I'm gonna have to order one online....still like to have the dash tach when driving, tho.....
Thanks for the info

Get an after market one..
on my 87, my tach worked with out a problem, but it was about 200 rpm's off.

Since it is an electric tach and it blows the fuse as soon as installed it is shorted to ground somewhere. Either in the wiring which you can ck with an aoh meter or the tach is fried and needs to be replaced.
