View Full Version : Honestly, Do You Think A Comp Orange Cobra Is Worth More...

than any other 03/04 cobra?

I say "no". I know its a rare color, but I don't see it bringing any more money than say a "screaming yellow" cobra. But, going to SVTperformance.com, I see these cars going for $28K to $32K.

Honestly, even though the mystichrome cobra has more numbers (1010 coupes), I see them bring in more cash than the comp orange cobras. I think when it comes to color, that car would bring in more money.

Your thoughts?

Yellow is the only color that will increase the value of a car :pianodan

I guess it might to some degree since it's not as common of a color. Could also depend on the buyer. I'd never buy a stang based on the color because it would soon become yellow anyway. :blkvnm:

I'd have to say not much, if at all. Maybe they are going for 28-32 because they have low miles, are garage queens, and have lots-o-mods...it's nice to see the 03/04s still bringing in 28ish though, that's for sure.

I dont know if color has any factors on the price.

I dont think so. Color choice is personal and sometimes depends on the car type. I never thought Id buy a white car (mach is 1st) until I saw the White Mach and the way the black accents set off the car

i think that it most certainly can bring more money for a car sale, provided that the buyer wants that particular color. (and that is the case with any color.)

i would pay (and have paid) more money for a car if it is the exact color i want. on the flip side it is alot more easy for me to walk away from the sale if it is a color that doesn't really do it for me.

any negotiation is the same as far as the motivation of the buyer and seller. motivating factors on either side cause the seller to lower the price and the buyer to raise the price

that being said, hells yeah i think that comp orange would bring mo' money. i think it is one the most coveted colors for any muscle car. it is natural for a beast like our 04 cobra. same as it would be for a 1970 roadrunner. to me it screams musclecar and most people either love it or hate it.

on the other hand, comp orange would probably bring a lower price to a sale of a mercury grand marquis.

Well I know when I looked at a 04 mystic, the color was driving the price high. Of course that was at a dealership. So I can see how some colors could drive a price up.

I think it's demand of the color. I know i would pay slightly more for Yellow. So if you have 5 people wanting Comp Orange, then they each have thier limits on what they are willing to pay for it. :mick:

It is a beautiful color!

Its all about supply and demand.
If you want it and they have it and they know it.
THey will make you pay a price they want you to pay to see if you really want it.

The 04 mytic I was looking at...they wanted $36K and wouldn't budge. Thats when I decided to go to the internet and buy one. Here in Hawaii...it is all about Supply and Demand and dealer markup.

Very true. But, the markup is very high. A new vette sold for $119K here. I heard the first Shelby that was here sold for $85K.

Yea I was told that those cars are usually totalled when its a major accident cause of the cost of the paint and body work involved in repairing them.

Give you an example. My buddy just shipped his Mystic Cobra to the mainland from here. It must of been on the bottom of the truck and stuff leaked on the paint from the cars above it.

First estimate: $10K to repaint the whole car.

+1 what he said!!! Color is a preference, and not everybody wants to own the orange!!!!

No kidding. I have people that have absolutely loved the color of my car and I have people come up to me and say, "how the hell can you drive a ORANGE car". I tell them, "to each his own".

I would probably pay a little more for color. example: I love white stangs but if I had a choice between a white 95 gt 5.0 and a Tangerine 96 gt 4.6 and the 96 was 1g more I would pay it.

I agree 100%...I had a 04 GT Comp Orange....waited and waited until I found my Cobra in the same color, even ended up spending around 2K more for it...but it didn't matter I HAD to have that color!

I posted a gauging interest ad on svtp and got alot of response basically because of it being comp orange. There is alot of people out there looking for this color on a cobra. I guess anybody that doesnt care for the color can pass it up and buy another cobra, another color. But the select who want this color will pay more for the comp orange than lets say a sonic blue

It is to each his/her own like I said. I like screaming yellow in the cobra. But, I have had people tell me that yellow is for women. Like I said...to each their own.
